Buay
Buay
Born 2010 | Female | Journey to Freedom
Buay spent her early years working alongside her mother, Honey, at a trekking camp in Mae Taeng, Chiang Mai.
In 2015, Buay and her mother were given a second chance when they joined the Journey to Freedom project. Surrounded by jungle and freedom, Buay has been able to leave behind the demands of her past and begin to experience life on her own terms.
She is known for her gentle, friendly nature and is often curious about those around her. Like many elephants, she remains sensitive to loud noises, a reminder of the lasting impact of her earlier experiences.
Within her herd, Buay has taken on a special role. She is a devoted “nanny” to young Gee Lee, forming a close and affectionate bond with her. The two are often seen together, playing, exploring, and sharing a friendship that reflects the deep social connections elephants naturally form.
