OUR MISSION
Trunks Up preserves and protects the critically endangered Asian Elephant, bringing awareness to their plight as victims of the tourism industry. We advocate for change and aim to improve the lives of thousands of captive elephants, freeing them from decades of abuse and rescuing them to sanctuary.
WHO ARE WE?
WHat is trunks up?
TRUNKS UP is a dedicated branch of the Abraham Foundation, a certified 501(c)(3) organization lending help to preserve and protect the critically endangered Asian Elephant with particular focus on supporting the work of Lek Chailert, founder of Elephant Nature Park and Save Elephant Foundation.
Trunks Up works to enable the thousands of captive Asian Elephants to live lives free from abuse and deprivation and enable the wild Asian Elephant population to thrive.
The goal of Trunks Up is to identify, recruit, galvanize, and form a worldwide “herd” of volunteers and supporters to work together to save Asian elephants from captivity while raising awareness and critical funding.
WHY is this important?
SAVING ELEPHANTS FROM ABUSE AND CAPTIVITY
In Thailand alone, there are over 3000 captive elephants in need of rescue from decades of abuse and suffering. The devastating exploitation includes tourist trekking camps, circus shows, street begging, and the logging industry.
In addition to their rescue, land purchase is vital to giving these elephants the home and freedom these sensitive and majestic animals deserve.
Elephant Nature Park leaves no one behind!
While improving the lives of captive elephants (plus many other animals), they also support efforts to conserve Southeast Asia’s rainforests, underserved schools, and provide local communities with a mobile veterinary clinic, offering free care to the animals.
