Together, the Trunks Up community helped create Kaavan's forever home transforming 30 acres of protected forest into a sanctuary where he could finally experience freedom, companionship, and the life every elephant deserves.
OVERVIEW
When Kaavan, known around the world as "The World's Loneliest Elephant," was rescued from decades of isolation at Marghazar Zoo in Pakistan, one final piece of his journey remained, creating a permanent home where he could truly heal.
In partnership with Save Elephant Foundation, Cambodia Wildlife Sanctuary, the Trunks Up community launched a campaign to build Kaavan's Jungle Home, transforming 30 acres of protected forest into a safe, enriching habitat designed to meet his physical and emotional needs. Over seven months, supporters from around the world came together to fund the construction of secure fencing, water features, habitat improvements, and the specialized infrastructure required to welcome Kaavan to sanctuary.
In November 2020, Kaavan completed his historic journey to Cambodia. Today, he roams freely across his expansive jungle home, foraging, swimming, exploring, and living alongside fellow rescued elephants Di-Poh and Sarai Mia. After decades spent in captivity and isolation, he is finally able to experience companionship, choice, and the freedom to simply be an elephant.
